Guardians of Freedom

Good morning,

I have to apologize for not posting anything related to 9/11 yesterday, but it's just a really hard day for me.  I just cannot fathom the reasoning behind someone or something being so angry with someone or something to want to destroy it.  There is no reason for any hate, no matter how bad you dislike something.  As I was growing up I was always told I had every right to "dislike" something but you never "hated".  It's just super hard for me to understand that something like this could have happened.  I don't and will never understand war...rage is a 4 letter word.  As long as I live I will never forget where I was that day.  I know everyone remembers what they were doing at that exact moment in time and watching the horrific scenes on the television is just too much for me sometimes.
I loved the song by Alan Jackson
but I also love
Scotty McCreery's version

I hope you took a moment yesterday to reflect on what transpired that day 10 years ago as my family and I did.  We drove to Lincoln, NE for the Guardians for Freedom Airshow featuring the Blue Angels.  They are my most favorite and we look forward to seeing them over and over again.  My boys and hubby actually got to have dinner with the Blue Angel pilots a couple of years ago and met and received autographs from each one.
The show yesterday was all about remembering 9/11
and it began with a prayer from the chaplain.

Here are just a few pictures of the Blue Angels performing

Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

I have to remember that, especially at this time of the year...

  1. What a beautiful post, Brenda... That song is such a wonderful song -- and still evokes very strong feelings every time I hear it... I love seeing the pictures from your trip -- Air shows are really spectacular, and this one must have been very special.

The verse is definitely one of my all-time favorites -- And I am sure it's one I need to read every day!! :)

  3. Thanks for sharing the air show pictures. (I have always loved airshows) Yesterday was really difficult for me too. I know it has been 10 years but it still feels so fresh to me. My husband watched several shows about it and I had to keep leaving the room.

  4. Wow, how fortunate to actually meet some of the pilots!!!

Brenda, I don't understand that kind of hate either!!! It's all just to terrible to even fathom sometimes, so I try to figure it out because I actually really DON'T want to know or understand it!

Great pictures. This is the first year the hubby and I missed the air show on the lakefront a couple of weeks ago when they were here.

    Hugs, my friend!
