Simply Create Too Challenge #102 Love/Valentine

Good morning friends.

As you know Simply Create Too has a couple challenges each month.  Last month my challenge was Party Time and I had a fun time making some earrings.  This month my challenge for the blog is Love/Valentine.  Well that's easy since it's just right around the corner.

I started with some plain dollar store glasses to create these.  There are so many tutorials on pintrest on glittering them.  It's actually very, very easy.

Start with cleaning your glasses well.  I then brushed a medium layer of Mod Podge on the stem and the base of the wine glasses.  I sprinkled red or pink glitter all over the Mod Podged area.  LET THIS DRY COMPLETELY!  Very, very important to make sure your glue has completely dried.  I let them set over night.

The next day I ran a paint brush over the glitter to loosen any glitter that might not have adhered all the way.  Now this is where you have to determine if you need another layer of glitter or not.  The Pink glasses I had to add three layers of glitter because it was so fine with a layer of Mod Podge between each and then a layer of Amazing Clear Cast resin to finish it off.  Again make sure your Mod Podge dried completely.  I also etched the glasses with hearts using Armour Etch.

The Red glasses I only needed one layer of glitter because it was a coarse glitter and very dense.  I then added another layer of Mod Podge to "soften" the glitter and then put a layer of the Amazing Clear Cast resin from Amazing Casting Products over the top of that.  Now you can't feel the gritty of the glitter.

I added some vinyl lips and mustaches to two sets of the glasses and Yes, I put them in the store!
One set has already sold!  That excites me

(The chocolate suckers are a awesome too.  I print directly on the suckers with edible ink.
Our motto is, If you can think it, we can print it)

So now, I hope you will head over to Simply Create Too and join us for our Love/Valentine challenge.

Wall Hanging - Anything But a Card challenge #33

Good morning,

I have been so busy creating lately and have just had an awesome time doing it.  I decided to take on a few more challenges and today I am going to be adding my creation over at Anything But a Card Challenge 33: Sparkle.  I really need to get back into doing some scrapbooking and I think this will be the perfect avenue for me to pursue.  While I did not make a scrapbook layout per say this time around, I did do a layout wall hanging.

I started with some plain beer coasters and  I covered the first coaster with glittered card stock in purple.  I am seriously trying to use up as many scraps as I can so I have no idea where this paper comes from.  I cut "It's a Girl" from scraps with my cricut.  Then I added some fake flowers with some rhinestones and of course some butterflies.  Each of my grandbabies have an animal associated with their name and Alexis is butterflies.  You will be seeing more of my grandbabies and their "animal" personalities in the future.  The butterflies are made with my Amazing Crafting Products.  When I pour my molds I usually create multiples of them and I happened to have 4 butterflies; love it when I have the perfect embellishment on hand.  I painted them with Terri Sproul Mixers by Sakura.  Isn't that just the sweetest sleeping picture?
The second coaster was also covered with pink glittered cardstock paper.  I printed her date of birth, weight and length from my computer on some scraps and tore the edges and layered it.  Again the same fake flowers with some more rhinestone embellishments and I also made 2 pins with her name.  The big butterfly was also created with my ACP and you can see here how I did it originally.  I added some glitter to the butterfly for more "sparkle" affect.
The third coaster was covered with another purple glitter card stock.  The same fake flowers, another butterfly and I cut a "dress" trying to mimic her outfit in the picture.
Before adding paper to the back of the coaster I added "ribbon" to hold them all together.

Now for the most "sparkly" part.  I created the "hanger" for this lovely wall hanging.  I had a picture frame that broke and it had this awesome metal hanger.  I thought I could probably mimic the hanger by molding and casting it and manipulating it however I wanted.

Here is a step by step tutorial on how I did this:
here is my hanger molding with Amazing Crafting Resin mixed with Alumilite Metallic Silver
Before the hanger was completely cured I demolded it and while it was still plyable I
taped it down to create the shape that would fit my coaster and let it cure the rest of the way.
Then I painted it with some pink acrylic paint and while the paint was drying I sprinkled some glitter all over it for that "sparkle" affect I was going for.
Once that was completely dry I hot glued it to the back of my coaster.
The backside isn't the prettiest, but who is gonna see that?
and now I finally have Alexis' birth layout done!
Very SPARKLY for this "sparkly" little girl!
It's pretty sad that she just turned 2 and this is one of the first things I've done of her.
Things are about to change!
Stay tuned because I may be sharing some exciting news pretty soon!

I hope I've inspired you with this out of the "scrapbook" layout and can't wait to hear what you think.
Leave me a comment and let me know if I've inspired you to do a layout for a non scrapbook.

Snowflake magnets

Good morning, and welcome to another Creative Paperclay® project.  I wanted to show you another project I made with all those embossed snowflakes and some others.  Remember, you can emboss your paperclay while it's still wet and using a cuddlebug folder or anything with texture just adds element to your project.  I love doing this.  Click on the link above if you don't remember the post or want to see it for the first time.  So let's get started:
After my snowflakes and other cookie cutter cut outs were completely dry, I painted them with acrylic paints and inked around the edges to give them dimension.  I do that allot.
See how using different embossing folders gives them different looks.  I love this technique.
So I wanted to turn them into memo holders...
So I used Mod Podge and added some papers to the front of the clothespins.  Adding a bit of glitter here and there to make them sparkle and another layer of Mod Podge to seal them well.
Aren't these cute?
Now I wanted to turn them into refrigerator magnets...so off to my "hoarding" bin and there I found some old 2012 calendar magnets.  Yes, I keep "EVERYTHING"
I cut them into strips that are the same width as the clothespins and glued them to the backside of them.
Now they can hang on your file cabinet (like mine) or the
refrigerator (like my mom did) to keep notes or cards or whatever your heart desires.
These turned out so cute.  I wanted to make them for my mom, my dad's girlfriend and MIL
but also wanted to package them up cutely...SO
I used bakers paper to cut the bags from my TBBM cricut cartridge
scored them.
glued them.
folded them.
the bottom is also glued, but somewhat fragile if you were to put anything heavy into it, so...
I just cut a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom of the bag and used an adhesive runner
placed it into the bottom of the bag
my hand didn't fit, so I used my scissor to make sure it fit snuggly and...
here they are packaged for gift giving.  I cut some tags using up most of my Christmas paper scraps, punched holes at the top and used some ribbon to close them up.  I gave them to my mom, my dad's girlfriend and MIL and they loved them.

I hope I've given you some more ideas for using your Creative Paperclay® and hope to see you here again in a month.  As always, have a great day and God Bless.

Glitter Personalized Ornament

Good morning,
here is a quick ornament I made for my son's girlfriend.  You've probably seen these all  over the web for the past few years, but I just love making them.  In fact, I think all my kids and grandkids have about 3 or 4 each.
All you do is take those ornaments you can get at Michaels for crafting.  Pull the top off and pour in some floor wax and swish it around .  Make sure to get it coated all evenly to the top.  Then just turn the ornament upside down back into the bottle and let it drip.  Then I took some "fine" glitter in yellow (her favorite color) and added it to the inside of the ornament and kept turning the ornament until it was completely coated with the glitter.  It's so simple and quick.  Then I vinyled her name in red and layered it onto the ornament.  Tied a pretty ribbon around it and there it is.
I will be giving her the ornament tonight (actually last night when you read this) since we are having dinner together.  Now she can have her own personalized ornament hanging on her tree in her apartment.
See you next time, and as always, have a great day and God Bless.

Designs on Cloud 9

For the hop today, I've created 2 projects.  For the first one I started with this plain candle that I got at the Dollar Tree:

I wrapped the candle with some brown cardstock that I had inked, glimmer misted and crumpled to make it look like leather and wrapped a silver ribbon around it.
Then I created a rosette
I wanted to give the rosette a bit of glitter and found using the Alene's tacky glue worked great.  I'm sure you can also use some plain white glue, but this is what I had on hand.
I just rolled the rosette in the glue ...
(Pictures are from a previous rosette I had made)
and then rolled it in some glitter.
Look at the sparkly tips.  It's beautiful
Then I created a tag and for the life of me I could not find
my "give thanks" stamp, so I hand wrote the sentiment.
(not very happy with that, but I wanted to get the candle done)
I added a leaf button to the center of the rosette
and here is the finished candle.
So now I loved making this rosette, so I decided to glam up a lovely home decor grouping that I have, but it was just so plain.  It needed something.
These mirrors were purchased at a local thrift store and I painted them with some
gold paint and added the etching to read BE LIE VE.
My neighbor lady (who seems to give me a lot of stuff)
gave me this lovely ironwork thingy.  I just love it, but it lacked
some umph and I needed a redo on it.

Then I created a bunch of these lovely rosettes

Didn't they just turned out so nicely?
Now, I used my home made repositionable glue dots and attached them to the wood and the greenery.  When I no longer want this grouping I can just take the rosettes off and reuse them on a layout or card and I can redo my greens also.  I'm thinking maybe some glittery snowflakes for the Christmas Season...
Now doesn't this just look so much nicer?  I love how it turned out.
I am the last stop for the hop and I hope you've enjoyed my projects.
My blog candy?  Well, I will make you one of these candles I made at the beginning of this post with a rosette.  Just leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite season is...Please become a follower if you aren't already; like me on Facebook or follow me on twitter.  Sign up to receive my emails on the right sidebar.  Leave me a comment for each entry separately to gain more chances to win.  I will draw a winner for ALL of my monthly drawings on October 3rd, so that gives you plenty of time to leave comments and send your friends over to take a peak.
