DTC #10 Tweens N Teens Party

Good morning and Happy Wednesday, everyone! I am so excited to be a guest designer over at  Decorate to Celebrate again!  Decorate to Celebrate is a super-fun challenge blog dedicated to showing off decorations for every celebration.  This is my third guest design spot over there and I am hoping for many more to come.
The theme for today's challenge is: Tweens and Teens Party (anything having to do with a party for them).  I decided on a movie night theme.  My kids loved to entertain at my house all the time.  I always had kids over for one reason or another...I miss those days.  Austyn doesn't entertain much at home yet, but I'm hoping that will change soon.
So, to begin with you have to have an invitation right?
So I took an old cd, lots of them laying around
and adhered paper to the front of the cd.  Then
I stamped You're invited and all the pertinent information
directly on the paper, hand wrote the exact details
and put it in a plain cd case.
Next I cut the "popcorn" boxes from an SVG file
from Scrapping Table in different colors.
I absolutely love her All Wrapped Up file
I then downloaded a clipart of a director's clapboard
and imported into my SCAL and traced it.  I cut it
out in white and then again in black and added their
names with a white gel pen.
I also downloaded a "film reel" and did the same thing
as I did with the director's clapboard and cut it out in
matching colors to the popcorn container as a straw marker.
Now everyone knows whose straw belongs to whom.
Now the next time you want to have a party, think of adding a theme
to it and create your own decorations.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and thanks again Amy and Rhonda for letting me be part of your fabulous blog as a guest designer! Don't forget to make your own decorations for a Tween or Teen Party and link up at Decorate to Celebrate  I can't wait to see what you create!

Paper Secrets 12

Good morning and happy Saturday

here's my layout I did for the challenge over at PaperSecrets.  Each week we are given an assignment for a layout. I really don't care if I win the contest, it's just helping me to do more layouts that I should have done a long time ago (or some new ones in this case). If you participate and follow the guidelines you advance to the next week. We started with 27 and 10 moved onto this week.  I will keep updating you as I go along. Who knows, I might not be able to participate one week and then I am out, but until then, I am scrapping my butt off, (they used a different word, but my blog is family friendly...hehehe
Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout
I used the flag from Scrapping Table's Patriot file set as my journaling block and added clear rhinestones as my stars.  I cut this out with my E-Craft again...Love this machine.
I also used the Getting Cricky "Freedom isn't Free" set to stamp some of my favorite sentiments onto the background paper.  This worked so awesome...I love incorporating my stamps with my layouts.
I also used the stamp of the dog tag from the "Freedom isn't Free" set to journal my date.
Thanks again for looking

It's Your Day birthday card

Good morning all and Happy Birthday Lillie,

Today we should be on our 3rd day in Boundary Waters with two more days and one more night to go...Hopefully the weather has been cooperative and we aren't wet.  Years past we get at least one storm and usually it's a doozy, so keep your fingers crossed that we've had nothing but sunshine and great fishing.

Here is a quick card I made for my brother's girlfriend.  Although we've only met once (she live in a different State), I really like her and thought she might like a cupcake from me.  So Happy Birthday Lillie, I hope you have a great day!!!  Hope the card got to you just fine and know that we are thinking of you today.  This is where you can stop reading cuz now it's just technical stuff...LOL

The file is an SVG from Scrapping Table's Tea Time.  I did alter the cupcake a bit.  It had icing in the center of the cupcake, but I broke the file apart and took that out.  Then after I cut the pink layer I hand cut around the bottom and pop dotted it on top of the other layer after inking around it.  I added a Peachykeen Dolly Dumpling face and a cherry for the top also pop dotted.  The background paper is from the Birthday Scrapbook stack kit . I added the tag with a stamp from Getting Cricky's Food for Thought set and stamped it onto the sheer ribbon.  I added the sheer ribbon behind the cupcake also.

Keep your fingers crossed we are catching fish because I might be hungry enough to want to eat this cupcake.  Although with no internet access I can't see it anyway...

Hats off to You

Good morning,

well hopefully we found our campsite alright.  From past years we've learned that you paddle all the way to where you want to go as quickly as you are able to and remember where open campsites are in case the one you want is already occupied.  Boundary waters only allows so many people in per day, but can leave whenever you want.  Therefore, you don't know if a campsite is being used until you get to the one you want.  This year we are hoping for the "island".  I've never been there, but the boys have and they say it's an awesome campsite and the fishing is really good.  There are no motorboats allowed anywhere in Boundary waters so we canoe every where and to get to the island we will be paddling and portaging for about 3 hours.  Keep your fingers crossed!  I will be wearing a hat to keep the sun off, but it won't be as glamorous as the one you are about to see...

Today I made a simple but elegant card for you.

The hat is from Scrapping Table's Glamour Girl set and the tag is cut using a border punch for the edges.  I added a little flower with a bling center and some ribbon.  I inked around all the edges for some drama and of course the stamp is from Getting Cricky's Fashionable Friends set.  I have no idea where the background paper is from because it's from my stash, but the card was easy, peasy to make, but oh so cute.

You are Loved (Shaker)

Good morning ... are you ready to shake again?

Today I am showing you one more card I made with the inspiration from Erika (a Getting Cricky DT-Sister) over at Crafty Sprouts.  If you missed the card I made the other day you can go here and view it.  I am also entering this card in her challenge.
Of course I used the Getting Cricky Food for Thought and Amazing You stamp sets.  I love how I can mix and match these sets.  Also, remember, for every stamp set you purchase, Kristal donates $1 to a charity.  That's another thing I love about these stamps.  I know my money is going to a worthy cause...

The SVG file is from Scrapping Table and her Love's Shaping collection.  It was a doily pattern and I just added the middle and made a Heart cut out for the shaker.  Pretty cool, huh?  I didn't have enough of these red beads, so I also added some white sequins and I think it turned out pretty decent.  The paper is from the The Paper Studio the So-So Sweet with glitter pack.  I love this paper and have used it for a lot of my cards.  The paper for the doily was a bit distressed and I really distressed the edges more with a nail file, added a ribbon out of my stash and there it is.  I hope you enjoy and head on over to Crafty Sprouts and enter her Shaker challenge.

One more day until vacation starts.  Right now we should be in MN somewhere and getting ready to hit the road for our family canoe trip.

With This Ring

Good day guys,

As you know I am also in a Layout challenge over at Paper Secrets and am loving that I am actually doing more and more layouts. Each week we are given an assignment for a layout. I really don't care if I win the contest, it's just helping me to do more layouts that I should have done a long time ago (or some new ones in this case). If you participate and follow the guidelines you advance to the next week. We started with 27 and 18 again moved onto this week. I will keep updating you as I go along. Who knows, I might not be able to participate one week and then I am out, but until then, I am scrapping my butt off, (they used a different word, but my blog is family friendly...hehehe

This week's sketch is this:
and this is what I came up with:
and what's in red is what I used out of the items I was allowed:

hand or machine stitiching
glitter/stickles/microbeads
3+flowers
rubons
3+ photo corners
punch
3+ tags
altered or raw chipboard
paint
vellum

I used SCAL and a file from Scrapping Table's Wedding theme for the dove and rings cut out of vellum.  I also cut the tags using my cricut.  I glued my pictures down onto some more scrap paper and created a pocket to put my tags in.  I inked around them to make them look a bit aged.  These pictures are of my mom and dad's wedding.  This group picture is of my parents with my grandparents on my dad's side and his siblings.  I am very happy with this layout and I am still going strong.  See you next week for another PaperSecrets challenge.

Simply Sundays "Designer's Choice"

Good afternoon

**If you are looking for the Lasting Memories" post, please scroll down**
Okay, I am so excited about this project.  This week over at Getting Cricky for our Simply Sundays it's Designer's Choice and I was a bit worried about it until I got my sample stamps in the mail on Wednesday.  Of course I had to play right away because Kristal's stamp are awesome!!!  The only problem I had was deciding what I wanted to make.  Hehehe  Well I am currently out of town (well not as I am writing this), but when this posts I will be...hehehe.  I went home for my best friend's wedding and since I was gonna see my mom (it's been awhile) I made her this little gift.

This cut was from the For Her Delight svg file from Michelle at Scrapping Table.  Isn't it just adorable?  The cut is wonderful and so easy to put together.  I cut it as large as I could get it, so approximately 11.5 inches.  I added a little bit of pearls and a flower to the toe and then I used Kristal's stamp "Miss Shoe..." from the Fabulous Friends stamp set as a label inside the shoe.  I filled a baggie with some chocolates and viola, a simple but beautiful gift.  I just loved the idea of the sentiment, since I do really miss seeing my mom.  Now, seriously, wouldn't these make some awesome bridal shower gifts, or even making them for a girl's night out and using the sentiment "Sole Sister" or "Kick Up Your Heels"?  Yeah, wish I had a bridal shower to get ready for...or girls' weekend anyone?

Also ladies, just a reminder we are having a U-Stream at gettingcricky on Friday, June 17th at 9 p.m. Eastern time to show off Kristal's stamps and also a blog hop.  I will have some blog candy too, so please be sure to come and visit us.  I am sure it will be fun getting to know some of us and also to see what we all come up with.

Now create something, anything and come and link up at Getting Cricky!!!
