Oil Pastels to coloring Resin

Good morning friends,

If you were here yesterday looking for the second post to my Frog Dog Studio post from a week ago I apologize.  I know I had said the 2nd of June but in my head I had the 3rd in mind.  SORRY!  But I'm here today to with you another fun project using Frog Dog Studio's May kit.  LOVE IT!

here is the kit, now again, like I had stated in the previous post I am not a painter, drawer so I wasn't sure what I would do with the oil pastels that come with this kit.  But if you know me, I need to experiment like always and this is what I created.
and this
Now I am sure you want to know how I did this?
Well be aware this is a heavy picture post.
Let's start with the leaf...
I created a mold using my Amazing Mold Putty.  You can go here to see how a mold is made.
I then mixed up my Amazing Casting Resin with some Alumilite Black dye and poured my mold.
and here is my leaf ready to be played with.
I pulled out the Oil Pastels that came with the kit
and colored over my leaf.  Not being careful at all and just coloring
here and there mixing both the yellow and red randomly.
Then the magic begins...I heat set the oil pastels...they melt and intertwine beautifully
Look at that...it's AMAZING!  I think I will turn this into a broach for fall.

Now let's see how I created my necklace...
I started with a mold of an old lock and only poured the main part with my Amazing Casting Resin and black alumilite dye.  I did have to cut a bit away as I only wanted the ROUND part.  I just used my exacto knife to trim around the edges.
I started out with the same concept of coloring certain areas with the oil pastels and heat set
them also, but this time I chiseled off some of the green oil pastels and
flaked them here and there onto the piece...and heat set.
then I also colored a matching key with the oil pastels and heat set.
and here it is...
Please tell me what you think as I just love experimenting and when it works I'm on cloud nine.
This has got to be one of my favorite experiments right now.
I did plan on sealing these pieces with Amazing Clear Cast Resin
to make them all shiny but I ran out of time to show you here.

Until next time, have a great day and God Bless.

Feminine Lipstick holder no more ...

Good evening crafters

I have a super quick, somewhat creepy post to share with you.  I am pretty much a girlie girl but ever once in a while I show my wild side.  Today's post is just that, my wild side.

I recently purchased an awesome ring with skull and wings and it was primarily to make a mold of it for a friend of mine.  He's so into skulls it's ridiculous.  I don't really get into them but for this project I am in love.

I started with the ring, making a mold using the Amazing Mold Putty and casted it with Amazing Casting Resin and black dye.
Once the mold has time to set up, about 10 minutes or so I demolded it and started to paint with a mixture of Pink Sapphire Pearl Terri Sproul Mixers and 3d Crystal Lacquer.  I also watered down a bit of black acrylic paint and dry brushed it over the pink when it was dry just to not be SOOO pink.  I also added some rhinestones in the eye sockets for some added bling.
I attached the finished resin piece to a pink lipstick compact I picked up at Michaels in the dollar bin with some E6000 and now I have a very feminine but Not lipstick compact.
Kinda creepy but yet feminine.  I love it.

Please let me know what you think as I love comments.

Until next time, have a great day and God Bless.

Golf bracelett

Good morning, I'm here again to inspire you to use something you have and turn it into something it wasn't intended for.  Can you guess what I used?

Right now I should be somewhere in Florida.  My husband and son are avid golfers and we went to see the John Deere Classic in Iowa last year.  While we were there we found out that The Players would be happening over Mother's Day weekend in May of this year and that is my Mother's Day present, a whole week in Florida!  Now, I do not play golf, although I will be taking lessons when we get home, but I love the game.  I love watching my "boys" play and love driving the cart, hehehe.  I also love the clothing, I know I'm weird!  Now with the clothing I needed to accessorize and with that this idea was born.

For my son's birthday he received Golf-Opoly; just like Monopoly and the game pieces were of course golf themed.

I hijacked those pieces while he wasn't looking and created my molds,
mixed and poured my resin with the Alumilite Silver Metallic powder and created my bracelet pieces.
Stringing them with some white pearls makes for a classy (lightweight) Golf bracelet.

I hope I've inspired you to create something that wasn't it's original purpose.

Make sure to head over to the Amazing Mold Putty Blog and check out all the fun stuff everyone over there is making.  On May 24th I will be featuring another project using pieces from the Frog Dog Studio May Kit for a very sad and sentimental project, so make sure to save the date!
Until next time, as always, have a great day and God Bless!

Black and White Headband

Good morning

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter.  I will be busy taking down Easter cards at my stores and putting up the rest of Mother's Day and Graduation.  I'm not sure how much time I will have for crafting this week, so I thought I'd share a quick tutorial of a headband I made a while back.

I started out with a clear round stone
Found some black and white paper in my stash
Glued the paper to the stone using my Diamond Glaze
and attached that to a resin piece from my stash (one of my goals to use up what I have, but I seem to be adding more and more each time I caft because...)  When I am creating resin pieces I usually have too much mixed up and pour miscellaneous pieces.  This happened to be a piece I had created a LONG time ago and painted it black and white.  I sealed the piece with the Amazing Clear Cast Resin.  I then glued the piece to a headband using my E6000 and clamped it for about 24 hours.
I added some black and white ribbon and a pearl to the resin piece and those same pearls to the other side of the head band to keep balance.
I am loving this piece.
My bear had to be my model since I didn't have anyone at home to model for me.  He didn't complain too much...hehehehehe

I hope you enjoyed my headband today and as always, have a great day and God Bless.

Butterfly in Flight Easter Basket at ABAC Challenge #34

Happy Easter!

It's time again for Anything But a Card "Spring Forward" challenge.  Since today is Easter I thought I would share something I created for our Easter Table.

I started with a mold that I created with my Amazing Mold Putty and dusted the outer edges with my Alumidust.  LOVE this stuff.
Then I mixed my Amazing Casting Resin Part A with the Terri Sproul mixers in pink.
Then I mixed Part B into Part A and stirred them together real well.
While my molds were setting up, I cut three pieces of electrical wire (yes, I have a huge stash of these wires in all sorts of colors).  The best part of this wire is that it's kinda flimsy and this will give my butterflies "flight".  Then just before the resin was almost set up, I inserted the wire into the resin and let it harden the rest of the way.
While that was setting up, I cut a piece of styrofoam that will fit nicely in my basket and
hot glued my wires into it.
Blue and Pink butterfly
Orange and Pink butterfly
Purple and Pink butterfly
All three butterflies
And here is my finished basket.  I cut the "egg" basket using my cricut and scrap pieces of paper from my stash in this pretty butterfly paper.  I added a bit of green tinsel grass and now I have a cute centerpiece for our EASTER table.
Another look

I hope I've inspired you to create something and join us over at Anything But a Card for the challenge "Spring Forward". Remember, it can be Anything But a Card!

As always, have a great day and God Bless!

Unscripted Sketches 252 - Hope You're Better Soon

Happy Saturday!

wow, I am so sorry I haven't been here all week, but it's been a crazy one.  Lots going on in our household right now and hopefully the worst is behind us.  Nothing too major but a lot of changes.

So, with that let's move forward and I'm here today with another card for Unscripted Sketches.  I'm so thrilled I found this challenge blog, plus it's their 5 year Anniversary and there are PRIZES.  So of course I'm going to play along, but it's not only gotten me to start making cards again, but it's been helping declutter some of my stash.  Triple bonus!
Sketch252_blogiversaryApr12

I started out with finding my embellishment.  I created this flower piece a while back using my Amazing Mold Putty, Amazing Casting Resin and a nail polish dip and sealed it with Amazing Clear Cast.  I love how this flower turned out.  I should make a tutorial showing how to create this look.  I wish I knew how to take video and edit it.  It would be so much better to show how I created this!

So anyway, once I found my embellishment, I searched for paper scraps and a coordinating stamp.  I stamped my flower image and then using the Alumidust I "dry painted" the colors onto my flower.
Here you can see that I just randomly dusted the powders here and there.  Once I was done with that, I spritzed the dusted image with a little bit of water and heat set it.
See how beautiful my flower shimmers?
Then I created some colored embossing powder by adding a bit of the Dark Red Alumidust to some clear embossing powder.  I love how I can coordinate my colors using this technique.  I stamped my sentiment with the Perfect Medium and sprinkled my "homemade" colored embossing powder directly over it, shook the excess back into it's container and heat set.  Love it!
Here is a closeup of the flowers
Here is a closeup of the embossing
and here is my finished card.

I hope I've inspired you to head over to Unscripted Sketches and play along!  I'm sure I will be back next Saturday with another card or maybe sooner with some other crafty projects I have up my sleeve.
As always, have a great day and God Bless.
