Simply Sunday "Winged Things"

Good afternoon dearies...
"If you are looking for my Lasting Memories layout, please scroll down"

Welcome to another Simply Sunday at Getting Cricky.  As you probably know, Kristal came out with another 3 brand new sets of stamps and this week I am showcasing you the Winged Things.  I LOVE this set, but I do believe I say that about all of them.  This set is truly beautiful.  I love all the mix and match ideas, but my favorite part of this set is the stamped tag you can create.  Wait till you see what I mean.

Do you see it? and look
at that cute bee and
the butterfly.

Okay, so here is my card:
I love, love this sentiment
and look at this tag...isn't it just the neatest?
Now, you have all seen this awesome pins that
are floating around right now, right?  Well, I decided
to make the body of the butterfly from a pin.
Of course it's not as elaborate as most of the pins
that are floating around, but this is just supposed
to be the body of the butterfly.  I also wrapped
a bit of black jewelry wire around the "head"
for the antennas.  Love the look.

Now I hope I've inspired you to create something with Wings and head on over to Getting Cricky and enter her challenge.  If' you've already ordered her Winged Things stamp set, get creating...and good luck!!!

Simply Sunday "Postive Thoughts"

Good afternoon my friends,

***If you are looking for my Lasting Memories post, please scroll down***

I hope you are enjoying your Sunday.  As you are reading this I should be half way to our vacation destination, so with no internet access I will not be able to know if my posts have posted or moderate any comments, but I so look forward to reading all of them when I get home.  Our Simply Sunday at Getting Cricky today is to use the "Positive Thoughts" stamp set.  Every time I create something using Kristal's stamps I say to myself that this is my favorite set...I guess I don't have a favorite because they are all so awesome.  Now this set is Sold Out, but I am sure she will be restocking them soon.  Also, when you purchase this stamp set, remember that Kristal also donates $1 to Storefront Shelter (Homeless shelter for children and youth).

I really needed some inspiration the other day so I went blog hopping and came across this super cute card at Pause Dream Enjoy, she even has a cool video to go with it.  I really wanted to try this technique and this is what I came up with.
I cut the flowers with my E-Craft and layered 3 of them
on top of each other and added a flat pearl for the center.
I also inked around all the edges.
The flap tucks behind the flower flap
I added my sentiment to the inside flap.
Isn't that just so cute?
I also inked the inside paper to give it an aged look.
Now, I could have layered more papers and dressed it up a bit more, but sometimes simple is nicer.  This was very easy to make and love the look.  Now create a card, layout or anything you want with a "Positive Thought" and then head on over to Getting Cricky and link up your project.

Simply Sunday "Summer Fun"

Good afternoon friends,

***If you are looking for the Lasting Memories post, please scroll down***

Welcome to another Simply Sunday challenge over at Getting Cricky and it's Summer Fun.  I am so excited about today's challenge because I did something new!!!  I am using the Splashtastic Summer stamp set and really had a ball with this one.  Now remember, for EVERY stamp set you purchase, Kristal is donating $1 to a charity.  Again, that's for EVERY stamp set, not just right now, or last week, but forever as long as she sells them.  So when you are thinking about purchasing a set, think about how you will be helping a charity also.  Isn't that just a great feeling?

I wanted to make an action wobble card.  About 6 or 8 months ago I received a sample package of those action wobbles and put them aside and totally forgot about them.  Ugh, I tend to do that way too much...  I didn't have a seal on any of my carts so I found a clipart of this seal and traced it in SCAL.  I used one peachy keen eye from one of my sets and added a smiling face which I free hand drew.  Straight and curve lines I can draw, but that's about the extent of it.  The background paper was from my stash and I made my own faux baker's twine like I did here, only this time I did three colors and I love it. I had these beach balls in my stash also and they were just perfect for this card.  Now back to the wobbles...I cut my seal and went to add the wobble...and it was too BIG, or my seal was too small.  I was so bummed until a light bulb went off and I made my own action wobble.
Let me show you how I did it but be aware this is a photo heavy tutorial:

and there you have your own action wobble.  Now, mind you, I am not taking away from the Action Wobbles, because they are awesome.  My problem was that I need the wobble to be smaller because my seal was too small for the "real" action wobble.  I just needed to make my own for smaller cuts is all.  Here are a few shots showing my wobble in action...I wish I had the time or patience to make another video.  I just don't know how some of you guys do it, plus I do not have an editing program and believe me, I need a lot of editing help.  LOL

So what do you think?  Cute eh?  I think so.  Now go make something with "Summer Fun" and head on over to Getting Cricky and join our challenge.  If you have the Splashtastic Summer stamp set use it and HAVE A BALL!!!

Simply Sundays "Penned"

Good afternoon friends and Sisters,
Today is another day over at Getting Cricky for Simply Sundays challenge.  Today we are using our pens, for me, that is Amy Chomas' Pen set for Cricut.  Have you tried them?  No, well you better head on over there after you see what you can do with them and place your order.  If you have, then hurry up and use them to create something for the challenge.  The challenge is: Penned! Using pens somehow in your project (gel pens, journaling pens, pens used in your diecut machines, etc) and this is what I did:I've never made a twisted easel card before but one of my DT Sisters recently did and she inspired me to make this and so I was pretty excited to see if I could.  I used the "cross" cut from the Wedding Cart.  I love using my gypsy to create my projects at work and then as soon as I get home all I need to do is place my paper on my mat and within minutes my card is created.  I then layered it on a different tab, hid the outside lines of the cross and penned the inside swirlies on white cardstock.  This was so much fun and these pens are awesome to use.  I used the pink glitter pen and did "cut" it twice to give it a bit more dimension but really I don't think I had needed to do that.
Then I cut the cross out in shadow style in pink cardstock, again, usually using most of my stash paper so I have no idea who made it.  I recently purchased some "velvet" style paper at my local vinyl store.  It was on sale and well, how can I pass up a "sale"?  I've seen different things done with velvet paper and I wanted to give it a try.
I then used my stamp from Getting Cricky "Amazing You" set.  The sentiments are so interchangeable and super easy to use.  I love this set because it so in your face...I used "You are" "a blessing".  I was a bit worried on stamping onto the velvet, but it worked perfectly.  I used a white ink and it left a great impression.
Then I used my punch to create a border for the bottom of the card and left the middle open so I can write my message there.  I also added some pink inset into silver pearls for dimension and a place to hold the top fold.  This was definitely a great card to create.  I hope you like looking at it as much as I liked making it.

Now it's your turn to get those pens a working and link up at Getting Cricky for the Simply Sunday challenge...remember, anything goes...it's totally up to your interpretation.  There is only one important rule to follow and that is to "HAVE FUN"!!!

Simply Sundays "Vintage Appeal"

Happy Sunday -

Well, it's that time again.  I love Simply Sundays at Getting Cricky and am so blessed to be apart of this wonderful Design Team.  Also, if you didn't already know, (that means you didn't read my coming out post), Kristal has her stamps for pre-order available.  You can see them here.  Remember, for each stamp set that you order, Kristal is donating $1 to it's respective charity.  What a great thing for her to do.  I really love all her stamp sentiments and cannot wait to get to play with them.  I am hoping I will have them in hand by next week so I can show them off...maybe another giveaway????

Okay, onto the challenge.  Kristal wanted to do something with a vintage appeal, although I love this look, I don't get it right most of the time.  So, I decided to use a vintage photo at least.  Last summer I spent a week with my mom in Minnesota.  It was great mother/daughter bonding time.  We shopped, drank coffee and reminisced.  I do not have a lot of photos from when I was a kid or even of her childhood.  Living overseas most of my life and moving alot, things get "lost".  I do remember us always taking pictures, just don't know what happened to them.  Anyway, back to last summer.  Mom and I went through the pictures she had and I found this beautiful wedding photo of her parents.  Of course I took it...hehehehe.  I did not, however, use the original photo.  Instead I scanned it into my computer so that she can have the original back.  I am also in the process of using it to make a layout for myself.  Now the photo of course is in black and white so I have no idea what style or color of bouquet my Oma had, so I used pinks...I love pinks and I hope my Oma loved them too.

So...
I used to do alot of mosaic work.  You know, where you cut up china, glass, etc and create something with it?  Well, I have a ton of old china (probably not real) plates laying around yet so I decided to use one as a base for a small layout type style and here is the finished project.

I made all the flowers from scratch using a technique plus incorporating a bit of my own that I learned from Penny Duncan.  She has the most beautiful paper flowers on her site and a ton of free SVG files.  Go check them out sometime.  To start, I spritzed a paper doily with a pinkish glimmer mist that I made myself.  It was a bit drastic, so I added a yellowish glimmer mist over the top and heat set it with my heat gun, (cuz I am impatient like that).  I added a tan piece of card stock to the center of the doily where the center of the plate would be and layered a piece of vellum with some wording on it atop of that piece.  I used spray Tack to adhere all the paper piecings onto the plate to make sure I get a real good seal.  I did offset it a bit to give it some dimension.  I then used my ATG gun and adhered the wedding photo on top of the paper.

A little bit of tulle, scrunched and tied in bows behind the paper flowers I made with some leaves from previous silk flower stems added a nice touch.  I also used some pearls I got from Michaels in the dollar bin and a small pearl flourish atop the photo and paper.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures.
My camera ran out of batteries at the
most inopportune time, so I
had to use my cell phone.
I absolutely love how this turned out and hope my mom likes it too because this is what she is getting.  It's a late Mother's Day present because the project I had intended for her never came together due to some health issues of a friend's son, but that's another story in itself.
Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think about my Plate layout.  Then go and create something vintage style and go over to Getting Cricky and link it up.  I am sure Kristal will also have another fabulous giveaway.  She usually does!!! and it's usually pretty awesome.  She is a very kind sole and so good hearted.  Please tell her that...

Thanks for all the comments left over the last four days for the Getting Cricky Stamp release.  I really cannot wait to get those stamps so that I can start making projects with them.  I am so excited to be able to give a set away and the winner gets to choose which set she would like...so are you ready to see who won?  I placed ALL the comments in a hat and my DH drew:
