Fishing You Were Here (Shaker)

Good morning ... are you ready to shake?

My second post for the day...wow!

Today I am showing you a card I made with the inspiration from Erika (a Getting Cricky DT-Sister) over at Crafty Sprouts.  Erika has the best videos and tutorials on how to make cards recently and so super easy too.  She is also hosting a challenge every two weeks, so hop on over there and see what you should enter to win.  This time around she is all about shaker cards and I am entering this card over there.  I've done one in years past and completely forgot about them until Erika refreshed my memory and this is what I came up with.  Thanks Erika!!!

and the best part...I also turned it into an action wobble.  I wish I had time to do a video, but maybe when I come back from vacation I might.

Of course I used the Getting Cricky Summer Splashtasic stamp sets.  Also, remember, for every stamp set you purchase, Kristal donates $1 to a charity and this set benefits the Autism Research Institute.  That's another thing I love about these stamps.  I know my money is going to a worthy cause...

The SVG file is from Adams Acres as I am a designer over there also and you can get the file here.  This is her fishy file and I just made it into a shaker card.  Pretty cool, huh?  I added some green sequins to the shaker and a google eye to the fish.  I also added some white sequins and clear beads to the center for bubbles.  I distressed the edges with ink, added a ribbon out of my stash and there it is.  I hope you enjoy and head on over to Crafty Sprouts and enter her Shaker challenge.

Simply Sunday "Food for Thought"

Good afternoon my friends,

***If you are looking for my Lasting Memories post, please scroll down***

Today is another beautiful Sunday in the neighborhood although it's hotter than the dickens.  We had a nice, brief rain shower this morning, but now the humidity has picked up again.  Doesn't do much for the hair, so baseball cap it is today.  I am so excited about today's project.  When I joined Kristal over at Getting Cricky to be on her design team I never imagined I'd be having this much fun!!!  She is truly a remarkable woman.  She is strong, funny, generous and most of all, she is very inspiring.  As you all know she came out with her own stamp line and I have every stamp set so far.  The best part of owning her stamps is that I know that every time I purchase a stamp set from her $1 will go to benefit a well deserved charity.  Also, all her stamp sets are made right here in the good old USA...gotta love that.  This ensures all product materials are safe and that jobs are being provided and maintained here in America.

Today all the girls will be featuring the "Food for Thought" stamp set.  Now, I must confess that when I got her "Food for Thought" stamp set, I wasn't quite sure about it.  You see, the thought behind them where for lunchbox notes.  Now, my youngest will be starting middle school and doesn't take his lunch to school.  He thinks his mom is corny enough and sending a lunchbox note with him would just give me the *eye roll* and a "REALLY, mom???"  So I was a bit concerned, but alas, my brain went into overdrive and this is what I made.  Now, remember how I said in a previous post that "thank you" is somewhat over used...how about saying "Hot Dog, you are awesome"  Combining the Food for Thought and the Amazing You stamp sets.
The background paper is from Diane's Daughter
(it kinda reminded me of picnic paper or good for a manly card)
The rest of the cuts are scrap paper
and all the edges were inked
The hot dog and bun is by CuttingUpDesigns
I used green stickles for "relish"

and yes, it's a wobble

but it look so much better in person.  Maybe I will do a video ...
do you want one?

Now I hope you hop over to Getting Cricky and check out what the design team has put together and then challenge yourself to make something with Food...hahaha, just don't burn down the kitchen.

Remember, there is still time to comment on the Getting Cricky Blog hop "Run for the Fallen" for a chance to win the "Freedom isn't Free" stamp set here

Oh and before I forget, I have a winner for the "Being Featured on Getting Cricky".  If you missed the post you can go back here to see what I had made.  The winner is:

Your card is so cute! The wobble just adds that extra touch. Thanks so much for the video showing how to make wobbles; it's very helpful and I feel I'm equipped to try wobbles now. Thanks also for the chance to win such a fun stamp set.

Simply Sunday "Summer Fun"

Good afternoon friends,

***If you are looking for the Lasting Memories post, please scroll down***

Welcome to another Simply Sunday challenge over at Getting Cricky and it's Summer Fun.  I am so excited about today's challenge because I did something new!!!  I am using the Splashtastic Summer stamp set and really had a ball with this one.  Now remember, for EVERY stamp set you purchase, Kristal is donating $1 to a charity.  Again, that's for EVERY stamp set, not just right now, or last week, but forever as long as she sells them.  So when you are thinking about purchasing a set, think about how you will be helping a charity also.  Isn't that just a great feeling?

I wanted to make an action wobble card.  About 6 or 8 months ago I received a sample package of those action wobbles and put them aside and totally forgot about them.  Ugh, I tend to do that way too much...  I didn't have a seal on any of my carts so I found a clipart of this seal and traced it in SCAL.  I used one peachy keen eye from one of my sets and added a smiling face which I free hand drew.  Straight and curve lines I can draw, but that's about the extent of it.  The background paper was from my stash and I made my own faux baker's twine like I did here, only this time I did three colors and I love it. I had these beach balls in my stash also and they were just perfect for this card.  Now back to the wobbles...I cut my seal and went to add the wobble...and it was too BIG, or my seal was too small.  I was so bummed until a light bulb went off and I made my own action wobble.
Let me show you how I did it but be aware this is a photo heavy tutorial:

and there you have your own action wobble.  Now, mind you, I am not taking away from the Action Wobbles, because they are awesome.  My problem was that I need the wobble to be smaller because my seal was too small for the "real" action wobble.  I just needed to make my own for smaller cuts is all.  Here are a few shots showing my wobble in action...I wish I had the time or patience to make another video.  I just don't know how some of you guys do it, plus I do not have an editing program and believe me, I need a lot of editing help.  LOL

So what do you think?  Cute eh?  I think so.  Now go make something with "Summer Fun" and head on over to Getting Cricky and join our challenge.  If you have the Splashtastic Summer stamp set use it and HAVE A BALL!!!
