Headwrap Charms

Good morning and welcome to another Creative Paperclay® post.  Today I am showing you a follow up from two weeks ago when I created some paperclay charms from "non" molds.  If you don't know what I am talking about go here.

So I started with one of the charms I created while it was still a bit wet.

When the clay is not yet hardened all the way

I took the original charm 

and laid it onto the clay and gently pressed

it into the clay 

it gives the clay some definition 

see. 

After the clay piece was completely hard

I painted it with Metallic Pure Gold

Acrylic paint. 

Then I used the Shimmering Garnet from 

Terri Sproul's Mixers and you can get 

those here.  Not only does this give the

crown a glitzy effect, but it also seals the

piece when you mix it with the 3D 

Crystal Lacquer.

I wanted to add some glitz to my crown and remembered a purchase 

I recently made from my favorite "Dollar Tree". 

In the health and beauty aisle I came across these

nail art bottles.  I knew I needed them for

my altered art projects and they came in

handy for this project. 

I added some rhinestones and these itty bitty

pink balls from the nail art with the 3D Crystal Lacquer 

and covered them again with it to seal it. 

Then I took an unfinished crown, (yes I

usually make more than 1 piece at a time

in case of mishaps) and traced it onto a scrap

of soft faux leather. 

I cut it out just a bit bigger than the piece itself. 

I also bought these elastic headwraps at 

the Dollar Tree that day, (but not knowing

what I would be doing with them).

I might have a buying problem lol.

I added some glue to the backside of the crown

and glued a part of the headwrap to it.

Then I glued the faux leather piece on top

of the elastic ribbon onto the crown. 

and now I have a gorgeous headwrap charm.

So...what do you think?  I think I might be making some of these for my granddaughter for Christmas.

Robin's Nest DT Call

Good morning and welcome to another day filled with surprises.

Today I am showing you what you can make with so little, but make it so beautiful.  As most of you know I am a thrift store junky.  I love rummaging and finding old things to make new again.  A long time ago, (remember I am also a hoarder) I was at a thrift store and saw this cute little house like frame thingy.  It was 25 cents (I know this because I left the tag on it).  I can't resist a bargain, plus I knew I could make something of it.  Well, in my hoarding state, I tucked it away to be forgotten about.  Not long ago I was going through some of my stuff, because I have waaayyyy too much, (Just ask my hubby) and decided I was going to start purging a little, a little!  Shortly before that I had gone to my friend, Terri Sprouls "Live Stream for the Robin's Nest".  I have looked at their papers and such but never had to opportunity to play with any. While watching the "live stream", I won a paper pack from the Robin's Nest...yeah for me!  I didn't know which paper pack I'd be receiving, but knew I was going to create something for the DT Call that Terri mentioned.  As I like to dabble in a lot of different crafty things, I decided to submit this for the Altered Arts team.  I love to upcycle, recycle and unicycle...lol, not really.  So, here we go...

This is the paperpack I won.  It's filled with glitzy snowy paper, alphabet stickers and dew drops.  I've made my own dew drops before, but I am in LOVE with these.  They are so much better than my homemade ones.  There were white, silver, clear and pearl ones.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them.  There were also some snowflakes in the packet and I knew exactly what I was going to do with this packet.

I used the white paper with the glitzy snowflakes and cut "snow" with  my cricut and SCAL 3.  I tried to cut where the most of the "glitz" was.

Here is the frame, and I spray painted it blue.  I think "blue" when I think winter, not sure why.  I wanted to have a blue house to go with the papers.  I glued the "snow" to the frame of the house and some onto the chimney.  Then I used some fishing line and attached that to the snowflakes.  I used 4 glue dots and adhered them to the top of the "heart" cut outs and attached the snowflake-fishing line to them.  You can hardly notice that and it looks as if it were snowing.  I used the alphabet stickers to say "Let it Snow" and added some of the dew drops as accents and this is what you get.

Really honestly these pictures do it no justice at all.  I wish you could see how glitzy the "snow" look.  I absolutely love how it turned out and can't wait to give it to my mom,  but by the time you read this, I will have done so already.  I'm sure she will love it...  So, see what you can do with a little?

Now, I also love to make jewelry...beads are a blast.  When I got the paper from the Robin's Nest, I fell in love with the blues and wanted to create something that I can have around all the time.  So I thought and thought and came up with this idea...I used my Creative Paperclay® and cut a circle with a cookie cutter.

Then I cut a piece of the paper slightly larger than the dried piece of clay. 

See where it had fit in?  I glued the paper onto the dried paperclay with 3D Crystal Lacquer.   I also made this fleur de lis out of paperclay and painted everything silvery to go with the paper.  I got the idea of using the fleur de lis from the paper itself. 

I then sealed the entire piece with 3D Crystal Lacquer so that it would sparkle a bit also.

but here is the finished piece.  I cannot wait to wear it.  The beads were a perfect match to the paper.

Quick tip making an embellishment

Good morning to you all...

I am so glad to be back on the DT for Creative Paperclay®.   I so love this product and cannot wait to get into full swing.  

Today's post will be a quick tip post.  Next time I will show you what I did with the finished things.  Now, sometimes we just don't have a way of making a mold, unlike the Amazing Mold Putty, which, by the way, I love just as much as the paperclay.  So improvise...On a recent shopping trip I found these adorable metal embellishments from Tim Holtz and...they were super cheap, regular $7.99 and I got them for $2.99.

When I took them out of the package to put away, I noticed the nice indentation of the packaging.  With my frugal mindset, I knew I could do something with it.  I hardly EVER throw anything away. 

So I pressed some of the paperclay into the indentations.... 

and added some beads to one of them and then pressed the paperclay ontop of that and let it dry...

now, just because you don't have any molds, use what you have.  There are endless possibilities.  Please come back in 2 weeks to see the finished project.  I know you will love it.

DT Announcement

Good morning everyone... so glad you all came back to join me on another adventure.  As many of  you  know, I used to be on the DT for Creative Paperclay®. When my term was up I did not reapply because I had a lot going on in my personal life.  I was sad to leave the team, but things come up and ... well you all know how it goes if you've been following my previous posts.  So about a month ago, Terri, the DT leader for Creative Paperclay® put out another request.  Well, I applied, a bit late, but I applied.  I really didn't think I'd get back on the team since my project was 12 hours late...lol.  BUT I did and here I am to start showing you what I've been up to again.  I really have to say, even when I wasn't on the DT I was still using my paperclay.  I LOVE this stuff.  It is so versatile and since I am a multi media crafter, meaning I use about  everything and anything and try almost everything I can incorporate my paperclay into almost any project I do.  Today I am going to show you how to make a personalized pin.

 

We go to a lot of airshows and they are forever handing out trinkets.  Last summer Austyn received this pin from FED EX and I took it from him.  Remember, I will use about anything to craft with.  Anyhow...I used my Amazing Mold Putty to make a mold.  Yes, if you remembered correctly I used to be on the DT for them also and now I am running out of this stuff.  Luckily my Michaels carries it, so pretty soon I will have to use my 40% coupon to purchase some more :(

Then I pressed my paperclay into the mold.  I DO NOT leave my paperclay in the mold very long.  I like to ease it out of the mold and let it completely air dry.  I do flip it occasionally and it usually takes about 24 hours to dry, depending on the thickness of course. 

First I used a tiny emery board to get into all the crevices and made everything smooth.  Then I painted the wings in this white Pearl Metallic paint.  I got this on clearance for .59 cents and it gives it the most beautiful sheen.  I wish the pictures were better, but I lost my camera and have to use my phone right now.

After the paint was dry I added a Extreme glitter Acrylic paint to the Wings ONLY.  

It really highlights the wings 

Then I printed a picture of little Miss Alexis and white copy paper and attached it to the center with the 3d Crystal Lacquer.  Again I wish you could really see how glassy this is.  I also sealed the entire piece with the lacquer and it really gives it a finished look. 

After everything was nice and dry, which, with the crystal lacquer doesn't take long to dry at all, I glued a pin  to the back of the piece with my E6000 glue to make sure I get a good solid bond.

Zipper Pulls

Good morning

Today I wanted to share a quick post of something I made with my Amazing Mold Putty and Resin.  I love using this stuff.  As you might remember, I was on the DT for the Amazing Mold Putty and loved it.  While I was on the DT I was sent quite a bit of the Putty and I've been hoarding it a little.  I've actually made a lot of molds and now I am trying to preserve it as much as possible.  LOL  I'm so afraid of running out, but I will be using a 40% coupon from Michaels when I do run out.  I've already made sure my Michaels carries it, but  if you want some and your Michaels doesn't carry it, you can order it here.  So anyway...onto my project:

I had a ribbon pin 

and created a mold  

then I mixed up some resin and added

a bit of Terri Sproul's Mixers. 

(I will touch on these a bit more later)

Then I made a mold of my rubber keychain that I have had laying around forever. Remember, I am a hoarder and have a really hard time throwing anything away...just ask my hubby.  This time I did

not add the Terri Sproul Mixers because I wanted the colors to be a bit different.  Instead I painted the

piece once it was cured.  If you paint it while it's still warm the color sets up a lot better.  I love these mixers.

Here they are...I glued the "ribbon" over the hole of the keychain and then added a jump ring.  I also used my stamp set to stamp the word "fight" on each "keychain" and attached a small jewel as the dot for the "i".  I then attached some chain and different beads to it to make them into zipper pulls.  I have one on my purse and get quite a few compliments on it.  I really like the way they turned out and... 

since I go overboard and make more than I need to I am giving one of these away to one of you.

Wedding Flowers

Good Morning everyone,

What a fabulous day it is here.  Today is my birthday and it's my reason for being back here with you all.  I promised myself to come back into the blog world and no better day to start than on my birthday.  I probably won't be here on a daily basis, but more on a weekly one and I am planning on a few giveaways each time I post and I will tell you why in a minute.  As you know I've been missing for about a year with a post here and there, but now I am back and ready to show you some projects I've been making over the past year.  Since last fall a lot has happened and I will be touching on a few things in certain posts as they will pertain to the project I am showcasing.  I have definitely been crafting, but not blogging.  I love to craft and there for a while I was doing something literally every day and posting about it.  It was fun, but it also became like a third job and I was getting pretty stressed out.  I don't know how some of you do it...working full time, maybe kids at home, crafting and making blog posts.  It seems like my blog post where taking me hours with editing pictures, doing the step by step instructions and then the actual posting of it.  Last fall I took on a new job and 3 months into that job I became a manager.  Yeah, great for me, but it meant different responsibilities and having to learn quite a bit.  I also took on a small company for whom I am   doing their accounting.  I can do MOST of it at home, which is great, but it is still work.  I love what I do, but there just aren't enough hours in the day some times...So, when I could get some crafting time in, of course I jumped at it, but then it didn't leave me any time to blog about it.  I did take as many pictures as possible and saved them into folders so that some day I may start blogging again, and now is that someday.

Now today's project is actually one from this last weekend.  A few months ago a co-worker informed me that her daughter was getting married, and since I have done so many "crafty" things for work, did I know anything about making bouquets, etc.  Well, of course I do...LOL.  Actually my mom is the flower expert and I have learned a lot from her.  Plus I worked for a wholesale flower company for years and learned a lot from the designers, so, Yes was my answer.  We got together and they selected the flowers and this is what I came up with.

She was so beautiful

I cannot believe I forgot to take pictures of the boutonniers and corsages.  I am so mad at myself, but it was a pretty overwhelming day.

As my gift to them I etched their name and wedding date on a pair of wine glasses and used some of the flowers to adorn the stems.  I just used green floral tape to attach them and they will easily come off to wash them, but as the bride informed me, they can be hand washed and will stay like this forever.  The bride and groom where very happy with them 

Yeah, I'm happy with them also.

Good morning...

Are you stunned to see me?  Yeah, me too.  I've been missing in action for so long it took me almost half an hour just to figure out the "new" blogger.  My world has been pretty crazy since last fall.  ALOT has happened, not all good, but not all bad either.  I will probably tell you a little bit at a time with my new posts, but for today I just wanted to share a project I made.  I wanted to to reapply for the DT at Creative Paper Clay, but as my life is...time got away from me.  I was supposed to have this post up yesterday, but alas, I didn't.  Since I made the project, I thought I'd post it anyway.

I took a plastic napkin ring

Rolled out my paper clay between two skewers to

keep the clay even 

covered my plastic napkin ring with it and rolled it

over a wood grain texture plate 

and painted it brown 

then I made a mold with my Amazing Mold Putty from

an earring of a leaf

added my paperclay to it 

once the paper clay dried I sanded the leaf a bit  

and painted and glued the leaves to my covered

napkin ring. 

I think these will be so cute for the upcoming 

Thanksgiving dinner.
