Today I want to show you how to re-purpose something. I just love to recycle and reuse things I would normally throw away. Now, I would not have thrown these away and if I didn't have them on hand, I would have gone to my local thrift store and purchased them...LOL So we recently sold the Winnebago :( I'm very sad because she was a long time friend. We pretty much drove her to death, but she gave us lots of memories so that's a good thing. Now I don't know if we will be getting another camper or if we are truly gonna start roughing it again (in tents), but either way, we have the entire winter to think about it. I just know come spring time next year I'm gonna get sad again...
So with that said, we had to clean her out before selling her and I had another "household" in that camper. Everything from linens to dishes is now trying to find a home inside my home or donated to the local thrift store? I did send some stuff with the kids that they didn't have, but the majority is trying to find a place in my garage because I just can't seem to part with it. While I was going through the stuff I came across these plastic like plates that we ate from. Again, the memories of sitting around the campfire eating dinner...oh I miss camping already. So as I was packing them into a box I got an idea...I wonder if I can paint them? I'm sure I can....so I tried it
Here is the plate before and I already had the paint on hand
it did take two coats for the front
and I only did one for the back...because
do you really care what the back looks like?
The I created a word jumble of sort with my SCAL 3
and cut it on vinyl using my E-Craft.
After weeding it, I used plain contact paper that I got at
my local Dollar Tree as transfer tape. This roll has gone a LONG way...
I burnished it really good
and placed it on my plate and burnished it really good again
Added a plate hanger that I also got at the Dollar Tree and
voila...a beautiful wall decor. I finally made something for myself.
I absolutely love this...this might make a great
Housewarming gift for someone...
