Good day all and thanks for coming to see me today.  I've certainly missed blogging and hope to get back at it on more regular basis.  Allot has happened and I will catch you all up with some posts in the coming months.

So I've come to realize I've got more crafting supplies than any one person should have.  I do wood projects, vinyl projects, htvinyl projects, resin projects, jewelry projects and on and on and on.  Yesterday I decided to take this week and do some serious purging.  I filled up an entire large recycling bin and our garbage also.  Today I filled one tote with garbage and two with recycling.  These will be put out when our bins are empty.  Gotta leave some room for the every day stuff.

While I was purging I found so many things I had forgotten about.  It was kinda like Christmas.  I decided I'd let myself do a little bit of crafting and this is what I did.

So a long, long, long time ago I went to the South Dakota State Fair with one of my very best friends to see Charlie Pride.  It was a great concert.  As we were walking around before the concert I watched this young lady do spray paint art.  I was in awe with her talent.  A couple cans of spray paint, some swiping of the hand and some cardboard and she created beautiful masterpieces.  We headed to the concert and I couldn't get this one picture out of my mind.  I'm very much a patriotic person and she had done an amazing job on the twin towers.  (This was many years before 9/11).  After the concert I went back and it was still there just calling my name.  She had painted it on some standard tagboard and while it was sturdy I knew I would get it framed.  When my husband saw it he said we should should put it in a light up frame and let the colors shine through the front.  Well it sat for many, many years til this morning.

I started with an old canvas frame that I took the old canvas picture off.

I measured the frame against some foam core and hot glued them together.  Then I took my LED lights and cut a hole in the foam core for the battery pack to nestle in and taped the strings of lights onto the foam core.

Here you can see the battery pack is accessible to turn on and off

I did add some silver washi tape around the edge to keep it in place.  This picture above is without the lights on

This one the lights are on but it's kinda hard to see the true beauty.

This is what it looks like in the dark.
So beautiful!

So I hope you've found my tutorial somewhat helpful and I hope to show you some more in the coming months.  Thanks for coming and have a beautiful day!

Simple Frame for a birthday girl

Good day crafties

Today is a special day, as it is my granddaughter's 4th birthday.  Happy birthday Miss Alexis!

I try to make something for each of my grandkids for their birthdays.  It's just a way for them to know that while I'm creating I am also thinking of them!

So let's get started:

You will need:  wood blanks, 8 magnets, paint, hot glue gun embellishment, stickers, etc.

First I started out by painting 2 of the wooden fan blades, but you need 4 of them.
She loves purple, so I went with that.
Once they were dry hot glue 2 magnets on either side of 2 of the wooden blanks and then attach 2 more magnets on top of the other magnets.  Put a drop of hot glue on each magnet and then carefully line up the other wood blank ontop of those magnets.  This will ensure them to be equally spaced.
Just tie some twine or ribbon on the top wood blank and you are set!

The other wood blank I embellished with some stickers, bling and of course one of my famous crowns.
I made the crown with my Amazing Casting Products and you can find the tutorial HERE!

Now mommy can proudly display Alexis paintings and drawings from daycare!

Now, I'm sure the other two will want me to make them each one!
With PLEASURE!

"Fools Gold" at Anything but a Card Challenge 46

Good morning and happy Sunday to you all.

It's Week 3 at Anything But a Card and I'm so excited to share my project.  This month's challenge is "Fools Gold" and I've been wanting to frame a picture of my daughter and my grandbabies that we took at Easter but I just haven't found a picture frame that I really liked until ....

Well, this is what I used and created.  Please follow my tutorial

I had on hand a lightweight wooden picture frame I got at Michaels.  Some silver duct tape from the hardware store that is never ending.  Some scrap pieces of card stock left over from another project and a ruler.  You will also need acrylic paint, alcohol inks and double sided tape.

First I painted the edges of my picture frame in black.  No need to paint the entire thing as it will be covered.  While that was drying ...

... I taped the silver duct tape to my card stock and ran it through my cuddlebug.  I used 2 different folders and because the pieces are larger than my cuddle bug folders I ran it through in one direction and flipped it and ran it through again.  With the folders I used there is no need for precision.

I glued the pieces onto my picture frame with double sided tape.  (sorry for the glare)

See the awesome detail

Then I went over the top with Gold Alcohol ink.

I wanted to make it look somewhat antiquey so I painted black acrylic paint over the top and wiped it off with a dry rag.

Here is a closeup

You can find these kind of frames using real metal but
I prefer the faux metal look and it so LIGHT WEIGHT.
My frame is ready for my picture to get printed

Aren't they just so sweet?

I hope I've inspired you to create a faux metal frame and please join us over at Anything but a Card with your "Fools Gold" challenge.  Remember, there are only 3 rules.

1.  Make ANYTHING BUT A CARD
2.  Use the theme "FOOLS GOLD"
3.  Most important HAVE FUN!

Until next time, have a great day and God Bless.
