Feminine Lipstick holder no more ...

Good evening crafters

I have a super quick, somewhat creepy post to share with you.  I am pretty much a girlie girl but ever once in a while I show my wild side.  Today's post is just that, my wild side.

I recently purchased an awesome ring with skull and wings and it was primarily to make a mold of it for a friend of mine.  He's so into skulls it's ridiculous.  I don't really get into them but for this project I am in love.

I started with the ring, making a mold using the Amazing Mold Putty and casted it with Amazing Casting Resin and black dye.  

Once the mold has time to set up, about 10 minutes or so I demolded it and started to paint with a mixture of Pink Sapphire Pearl Terri Sproul Mixers and 3d Crystal Lacquer.  I also watered down a bit of black acrylic paint and dry brushed it over the pink when it was dry just to not be SOOO pink.  I also added some rhinestones in the eye sockets for some added bling.

I attached the finished resin piece to a pink lipstick compact I picked up at Michaels in the dollar bin with some E6000 and now I have a very feminine but Not lipstick compact.

Kinda creepy but yet feminine.  I love it.

Glass Tiles and tissue paper

Good day all,

I first want to apologize for not being here lately. We've had a busy July and just haven't had time to really be on blogger.  We went on a 12 day vacation (I'll be posting about that soon) and just got back last week.  Of course then I went right back to work and it's been non stop again since.  So, with that said let's get onto my project for Sakura.

They have these awesome glass tiles and bails and I couldn't wait to get crafting with them.  I wasn't sure what to do exactly and I knew I wanted something that popped.  My favorite color is purple so of course I would be going in that direction.  As always, I love to experiment so this is what I came up with.  I took some ordinary tissue paper and the Interference Lilac Pearl mixer with the 3D Crystal lacquer and painted a section of the tissue paper with it and while it was still wet, plopped the glass tile right on top of it.  I didn't paint perfectly to give it some dimension.  The tissue paper wrinkled a little bit also, but that's the "cool" affect.

Once that dried I flipped the tile over and added the bail also with the 3D Crystal Lacquer and painted over the entire back of the tile again to really seal it.  It's now even waterproof. 

Just added it to a couple of strands of ribbon and now I have the perfect pendant. 

What's also cool about this pendant is, depending on the light you see a lot of different color in it. 

So I hope you go and try using some tissue paper and mixers and see what you can come up with.

Belt Buckle Redo

Good morning and welcome to my second post of the month for Sakura Craft and Hobby.  I cannot tell you how much I love using their 3d Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers.  I'm not much of a painter, but if I were, I would paint the world with these two items.

Today I want to show you the difference in colors.  I purchased this belt at a closeout store.  I think I paid 50 cents for it.  I loved the detail in the buckle and new I could "fix" it up.  I just really wasn't too keen on the metal look, but I loved the design of the buckle.

I mixed the Interference Lilac Pearl with the 3D Crystal Lacquer and just painted the buckle with it.  I missed and some got on the leather part of the belt and I LOVED the color it gave.  Sometimes oopses are happy mistakes.  Anyway, so you can see what the difference in the "color" there is depending on what you are applying the "paint" to.

It turned out soft on the metal part.  I love the "lavender" color on it.  Now the leather on the other hand became very bold.  I just love the contrasts.  I added a few crystals because I have to have bling and created drab to fab.  Tell me what you think?

Elephant pin with coupon

Good morning and welcome to another post for Sakura Hobby and Craft.  Today I want to show you how you can make your own pendant and making it look like it's under glass.  First I took an empty eyeshadow container and cleaned it out real good.  Remember to recycle as much as you can!!!  

I broke the case so that I could get the metal piece out.

and here it is.

Then I printed off a picture that I really liked (remember I am an elephant fanatic) and cut it down to size to fit snugly into the metal frame.

I then filled it with 3d crystal lacquer

and let it dry for about 24 hours.  It wasn't quit dry in time for the post, but the cloudiness will disappear, I promise.  Make sure not to touch it cuz you may leave a fingerprint...don't ask how I know this. 

I think I might put a pin back onto this and pin it to my jacket.

Daisy Barrettes anyone?

We received these fabulous Eastery colored cardstock in our packets.  I cannot get over how much I LOVE these papers.  I love all the glittery and sparkly that the Robin's Nest has in their paper.  Did you know all these papers are handglittered.  How do they do that?

First I selected these two wonderful papers and you can find them here
The glitter papers are so nummy looking.

I cut the daisies out using my cricut.  Then I needed to manipulate the papers a bit.  Using an old mousepad I laid the "flowers" on it upside down and used a maker to manipulate the paper by making circular motions on it.  You will "knock" off a little bit of the glitter, but not much to make a difference.  These papers really hold their glitz.  Then flip your flower over and do that same on the other side.  Now I needed the flowers to be double sided, but since the back of this cardstock is white I "mod podged" two flowers together.

Since the papers are onesided, I cut them out twice and modpodged them together.

Now comes the fun part...I mod podged each flower to give it a sturdy base, but yet flexible.  Then after they were dried I glued the double sided flower to the plain flower.  I added some dew drops with a different color center and added 3d crystal lacquer.  I just love what this crystal lacquer does to the centers.  I did sprinkle just a tiny bit of matching glitter ontop for added glitz.

Then I added a barrette to the back of the papers and turned them into barrettes for the girls. 

Aren't they just lovely?  See, you can even use paper to create barrettes. 

Here are just a few pictures showing off the girls with their barrettes.  It's pretty hard to keep a 3 and 1 year old interested in having their pictures taken, but the whole experience was pretty fun.

Good day and thanks for joining me today.  First let me apologize for the delay in my post.  I was supposed to post on the 13th, but last week we had a really bad ice storm and and we were without power, heat and water for 3 days.  Let me tell you that was not fun.  We have a lot of mess to clean up because during the storm we lost a couple of trees and then we got 8 inches of snow on top of the ice.  It's been a very trying time, but I'm looking forward to getting back on track.

Thanks for your understanding and so without further ado...

I have had these barrette blanks for awhile and really had no idea what I would do with them until now.  I added the green Jewel Effects to some 3d crystal lacquer and filled the blanks.  I didn't use very much of the green and it gave this a very glassy look.

I also used the purple Glitz Effects and sprinkled a few bits into the blanks.  Then I added some of the 3d crystal lacquer on top of the glitz.  Some of the flakes floated to the top giving it a bumpy affect.  I love it.

These dried in about 20 minutes, but I suggest leaving them set up for at least 24 hours to make sure they set up completely.

This is such an easy and quick project and I hope you might go out and purchase some blanks and create your own barrettes.
