Bella's new shoes

Good morning friends,

today I have a crafty project, but it doesn't involve scrapbooking or cardmaking or even paper.  Nope, nada, zilch, none of that stuff.

Her daddy went to a garage sale last week and got her the cutest clothes and shoes.  He's a really good shopper!!!  He bought her these super cute sandals that had elastic straps.  She came over and spent a couple of hours with me the other day.  While she was here she had her shoes on and we went for a walk.  Half way through our walk, she stopped and kept saying "ouie" and would touch her tops of her feet.  I finally stopped to see what the matter was and she had "cuts" on the top of her feet from where the sandal was digging into her foot.  I took her shoes off and she walked barefoot the rest of the way home.  While on the walk back to the house I was examining the shoes and pondering what I could do to make them fit better.  The shoes fit her fine, just that the elastic really had to give to it which in turn pushed her feet into the top.  Once we got home I immediately went to work on the shoes and this is what I did:

Elastic too tight
The top of the shoe was cutting into the top of her foot
because the elastic was too tight
I cut the elastic right down the middle
Used my crop a dile to punch holes into the elastic leather
Added a pink eyelet (Thank Amy)
Cut 4 strips of black ribbon and added some "no fray"
Tied them into the eyelets and added
some fabric glue to the knots
And now Miss Bella has shoes that fit her perfectly.

I'm pretty proud of this ...  what do you think?

Now remember to come back tonight for our

  6. Good job! Not to take away from your creativity but great minds think alike. My daughter when she was in high school had a pr of black shoes that she kept slipping out of. So, I took black ribbon and attached to the inside back of the shoe, she wrapped the ribbons around front of leg & tied. Daughter is now a sophomore in college and still has those shoes & wears them with the ribbons. I'm a new follower of your blog. Please become a follower of mine if you like.
