Simply Sundays "Sew" Fabulous

Hello Cricky fans-

Today is another Simply Sunday challenge over at Getting Cricky and I want to share a card I made for my DD's birthday.  We celebrated her 22nd birthday on the 16th of April (for being on the Design Team we know most of the time way ahead what the challenges will be).  Anyway, I can't believe she's 22 already.  Seems like yesterday I was changing her diapers and singing lullabyes.  Wow.

The challenge this Sunday is "Sew Fabulous" which means anything to do with sewing on your card, layout, altered item, whatever you want to create.  Kristal will also be giving away a Loralei stamp collection, she is soooo generous and those Loralei stamps are awesome.  I hope you will be inspired to enter her challenge after seeing my card.  Since I am not a sewer at all, it was a bit challenging coming up with something, but I think I did alright.

Here is the card I made her.

The background paper is from The Mod Retro stack...I bought it just for this challenge...but it was on sale at Joanne's.  Using my brown ink pad I directly inked to the edges of the card base.  I cut the "dress making" doll out at 3.5 inches in SCAL twice and layered the light brown body base over the dark brown stand.  The svg file came from skhedrdesigns.  Go check out her site, she has a lot of neat svgs and also some digis.

The flower is from a bottle swap I did over on Facebook

I typed the sentiment "Sew, it's your Birthday" in word and used my corner punch to add the detail to it after spritzing it with glimmer mist.  Then I ran my nailfile over it to rough it up a bit, kinda give it that vintage feel.

I wanted to add some twill but all I had was white, so I ran it over my brown inkpad and I think it worked well, plus it matches the inking around the card.  I also did that with the buttons...they were too white for the card.  Not bad huh?

Then I just added a string of tiny pearls to the "dress maker's" base and there it is.  Kinda shappy chic.  I hope you enjoyed my "Sew" fabulous card and can't wait to see you next Sunday.

Here is a picture of her birthday cake... and she really liked the card too.

I can't even take credit for making the cake...her dad did...what a guy!!!

  4. Your card is so sweet! So glad K Andrew pointed me to your blog! After you posted your sweet comment on my blog, I tried getting to your blog from your blogger profile and it wasn't listed - not sure why. I love that you design for K Andrew's blog - how lucky are you??? I am a new follower and look forward to seeing many more of your creations.
