Luminaries - Frogs

Hi all - it's me again.

Twice in one day, wow. I did spend the better part of the day crafting again. Actually playing is more like it. I wanted to make something but really had nothing in mind. Then I remembered another halloween project I wanted to try. Again from Kandrew Designs I had purchased her luminaries file. I think hers turned out so cute. I didn't want to make mine quite as large as hers so I downsized it to 5 inches high by 3 inches across. Just tall enough for a small candle in a jar to fit in. I went to my scrap drawer, love using my scraps, and found this awesome vellum that I had gotten in a kit a long time ago. I did use it on a layout, but of course kept the scraps. There was just enough to fit inside the luminary. It's got just a slight pink hue to it and these awesome scrolls. All four sides are a bit different, but that's just right by me. I was really amazed at how it shines through. This doesn't necessarily have to be for halloween. You could make a number of these and have them as table decorations. I guess this one doesn't look very halloweeny, but that's what I had in mind in making it. Tell me what you think.

Again, while I was playing today I came across another idea. You know the plastic packaging that your cricut cartridges come in or anything else you buy that you can't get into without a knife? Well, the cricut will cut it. I used my deep cut blade on 6 and pressure of high and multicut of 3. I know everyone's machine is different, but those are the settings I used. I then cut out some frogs from the "witch's brew" file from Kandrew Designs because he is so darned cute. After I cut him out he was hard to see cuz it's clear. Remember those ghost alphabets? That's what it was like. Anyway, I then used alcohol inks, gold and lettuce and inked him up. I made three of them and each one came out a bit different. Love this affect. I have a passion for bling and rinestones but I didn't have any colored itzy bitzy ones. So I used my sharpies with a very bright green and colored them. Works great and I love their eyes. You can have any colored bling you want just by doing this technique.

As always, have a great day and god bless.
