Diaper Cake

Hello all -

If you remember awhile back I told you about a benefit for a friend of ours that has cancer?  I had made some things for his benefit and I also donated a "Diaper Cake".  The gal that bid on it contacted me and I had to make one for a little boy.  I used my New Arrival cart and cut all the embellishments at 3 inches.  It was kinda fun making one for a boy since I've only had girl cakes lately.  Here is the finished product.  Hope you like it.

Also a couple of weeks ago I ran a little contest of Guess What.  I had no guesses, so I will continue this contest for another week, since I have not mailed the items off to the receipient yet.  I am hoping to do that this week sometime.  I have to get ready for my cricut class that I will be teaching at Hobby Lobby this Thursday night and I also have a few consignment pieces to get done this week yet also.  Plus I have a full time job that keeps me away from my craft room way too much.  Click on the Guess What link if you missed the post and enter.

See you soon and as always, have a great day and god bless.

Cards

Hi all -

I must say time is getting away from me.  Either I am working or just too tired to craft...wait, did I really just say that?, too tired to craft.  Ah yes, I did.  I have just felt so worn out lately.  I just don't know what's wrong.  I am hoping whatever has got me so run down will hurry up and go away.

We finished our OWH cards and I will be posting them hopefully tomorrow.  It was alot of fun making them and meeting some very nice ladies.  They were a fun group.  We made a "Hero" card for an individual soldier and I wrote a little note to someone I don't even know.  I do appreciate each and every one of them.  I am a very patriotic person, in fact, I think I will upload some of my pictures of my dining room.  The entire room is loaded with RED, WHITE and BLUE.  Some things I've made, some things I've received as gifts and some things I've bought.

The picture above the wreath was purchased at the State Fair.  The gal that made it used only spray paint, a spactula and soem paper.  Very cool to watch.Yes, I made those curtains myself.  The cowboy hat was given to me by a friend who got it in Texas, and the baseball cap came from an American Legion in Tennessee.  Even my friends bring me things from all over. Can you even see the clock?  Talk about clutter.  I mosaiced the birdhouse (to the right of the clock) using glass tiles and beads.  Love how it turned out.Just another wall with more clutter, but I don't care.

Okay, onto my cards.  I knew I was going to have a long weekend at work, so I took some cardstock and some patterned paper to work with me and created a few cards.  I've fallen in love with making Z fold cards.  I can't remember where I saw one, but it was interesting to me.  I love making cards and this was just another attempt at trying something different.  They are super easy to make.  Cut a piece of card stock at 4 1/4 x 11.  Score from the left side at 2 3/4 and then again at 5 1/2.  Fold in half at the 5 1/2 score and then fold back at the 2 3/4.  So when you stand your card up it looks like a Z from the top.  Then I used the same pattern paper pretty much on the entire card, but I've seen them with different papers.  Remember, there is no right or wrong way to embellish.  Just go with how you feel.  Anyway, I made two baby boy cards and one Bee Happy card.  I just took random pattern paper and started to make the card.  I wasn't sure where I was going with them because I didn't have any embellishments with me.  Only the paper.  Today I then finished them by adding the sentiments and the bees and the happy sentiment.  It was funny that I actually had this stuff in my stash.  I didn't buy anything for these cards.  That kinda tells you I have too much stash.  LOL  Well here are the cards, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

I am very pleased with how they turned out.  The ribbon on the Bee Happy card was white.  I ran it over my inkpad to match the paper since I didn't have the right color.  Again, everything I used was from my stash.  Scraps and no purchases.  Yeah!!!

As always, have a great day and god bless.

Luminaries - Frogs

Hi all - it's me again.

Twice in one day, wow. I did spend the better part of the day crafting again. Actually playing is more like it. I wanted to make something but really had nothing in mind. Then I remembered another halloween project I wanted to try. Again from Kandrew Designs I had purchased her luminaries file. I think hers turned out so cute. I didn't want to make mine quite as large as hers so I downsized it to 5 inches high by 3 inches across. Just tall enough for a small candle in a jar to fit in. I went to my scrap drawer, love using my scraps, and found this awesome vellum that I had gotten in a kit a long time ago. I did use it on a layout, but of course kept the scraps. There was just enough to fit inside the luminary. It's got just a slight pink hue to it and these awesome scrolls. All four sides are a bit different, but that's just right by me. I was really amazed at how it shines through. This doesn't necessarily have to be for halloween. You could make a number of these and have them as table decorations. I guess this one doesn't look very halloweeny, but that's what I had in mind in making it. Tell me what you think.

Again, while I was playing today I came across another idea. You know the plastic packaging that your cricut cartridges come in or anything else you buy that you can't get into without a knife? Well, the cricut will cut it. I used my deep cut blade on 6 and pressure of high and multicut of 3. I know everyone's machine is different, but those are the settings I used. I then cut out some frogs from the "witch's brew" file from Kandrew Designs because he is so darned cute. After I cut him out he was hard to see cuz it's clear. Remember those ghost alphabets? That's what it was like. Anyway, I then used alcohol inks, gold and lettuce and inked him up. I made three of them and each one came out a bit different. Love this affect. I have a passion for bling and rinestones but I didn't have any colored itzy bitzy ones. So I used my sharpies with a very bright green and colored them. Works great and I love their eyes. You can have any colored bling you want just by doing this technique.

As always, have a great day and god bless.

Guess What and Blog Candy

Hello all my good friends and blog readers.

I am going to run a little contest today until next Tuesday, Sept 14th when I will unvail the full picture of each project. The only ones who are not eligible for this contest are my friends who have seen this project already.  AND you know who you are.  LOL  I will be posting two different sets of pictures because there are two projects.  You may guess on either set of pictures or both.  For each correct guess, your name will go into a random drawing.  So, if  you guess on both sets of pictures and you guess correctly on one, your name will be entered once.  If you guess correctly on both, your name will be entered twice.  Make sense?  I sure hope so.  I will not be posting the comments until after Tuesday.  That way everyone will have a fair chance.  Stipulation:  You will need to become a follower and post a comment to be eligible to win.

Blog Candy?  Well I had done some shopping last week and picked up a couple of packs of stickers and rubons because I thought they were really cute or interesting.  When I got home and was going to hang them on my homemade clip it up is when I realized I already had some of them.  REALLY?  That just goes to show that I liked it twice.  LOL  So instead if running back to the store I thought I'd save them for a swap.  Well today I thought maybe I could run a little contest and give something away for a change.  I've been so blessed with some of the blog candy I've won, I figured it was my turn to share.  Here is what you will receive:

Miss Elizabeth's - Metal Trimmed Stickers - Family
K & C Company - Life's Journey Words
Make it Personal - Time rubons
Provo Craft - Christina Cole Stand Outs
Making Memories - Family fabric stickers
Making Memories - Labels and Ephemeras stickers

And here is the first set of pictures:

The second set:

You only need to guess what the project itself is, but if  you are really good you might even tell me what cartridge I used or what technigue.  Pretty easy.  Have fun and enjoy!!!

As always, have a great day and god bless.

Halloween Challenge

Hello fellow bloggers and crafters
Today I have spooktacular project.  I hope you aren't getting sick of my altered containers, because I love making them.  KAndrew designs has a challenge again this month.  Last month, if you remember, I submitted my "Whooo Loves You" card.  I was given the "A Mice Halloween" file from her for entering.  Sadly only two of us entered her challenge last month, so if you haven't had a chance do so check out her blog.  This month's challenge is anything to do with Halloween.  AND she has some amazing blog candy to give away.

Onto my project again. I purchased a couple of Kristals files and was given a one free also with my purchase. I do not have any carts with Halloween so I thought this was the appropriate way to go.  So without further ado, here is my container.

I was at Hobby Lobby the other day getting ready for my classes that will begin the 16th of September and while I was there I came across this cute candy corn paper.  I just love it.  I think it gives the container some pop.  The first side is the "A Mice Halloween" file.  I popdotted the stars on the sentiment and on the mouse's tail.  SO cute

The next side is the "Hello Dearie" file which I got free for my purchase of $10 or more from Kristal's shop.  I love dimension so I cut some raffia and made the broom with it to give it some 3D.  I also added some brown card stock to the broom's handle just for fun.  The orange paper that spells out Hello Dearie is real glossy.  It really gives it some bling.

The next side is "Spooky Cat"  I think this one was a $1 if you made a purchase.  Sorry, I can't remember.  I just know I love her files.  They are so easy to put together.  She has them in any format you need.  I didn't alter anything on this side except I used my "homemade" markers since I don't have any cri-kits.  Oh, I want them so badly, but for now my "homemade" ones work.  I did popdot the pumpkin and inked the edges just to give it a bit more pop.

The last side is the "Witches Brew".  Love this one.  Maybe it's because of the frog...LOL  Anyway, I popdotted the bubbles (same glossy paper as the orange stuff) and added a black brad for dimension to the frog's eyes.  I also used the dots cuddlebug folder to emboss the culdren (sp).  Sorry the picture doesn't show it so well.  I've got to figure out a way to show off my work better.  Honestly, it looks way better in real life.

Anyway, hope you like my container and leave me a comment so I know I actually have people reading this stuff.  LOL  I was a bit surprised that I have 10 followers.  Woot woot.  I might be doing a blog candy giveaway myself pretty soon if I get enough followers.  If you are currently a follower spread the word about my blog.

As always, have a great day and god bless.
