Peanut Butter Jar repurposed

Good morning friends

Today I wanna show you a quick re-purposing project.  With what I would usually have thrown away, I love to recycle it and make it "new" and useful again.  Hubby loves peanut butter and I bet I own 10 of these empty jars, but they will come in handy someday...like today.  As most of you know, I throw on a dart league.  I've been throwing darts for about 15 years, but just can't seem to get any better...LOL  Leagues started 3 weeks ago and my teammates and I "play" a game within the league night.  If we throw under 30 points per round we have to add a quarter to the "jar".  If one of the teammates throws a hat-trick, 150 points in one round, we all have to contribute 50 cents to the jar.  It can get very costly for me sometimes, especially throwing under 30 points per round.  (told  you I can't get any better), but this is an incentive to try and throw better, I do not wanna contribute to the jar...

Here is the jar I made to collect our winnings:
I cut everything in vinyl...the logo (bar's name, ie Little Coalinga)
and then I cut "Dart$" out of blue vinyl and layered it over the logo.
I added our names also in blue vinyl
I used the my Ecraft and SCAL 3 to cut everything
I just added a blue vinyl circle to the lid and cut
a slit so we can add our quarters.  These plastic lids
are super hard and I had my son cut it for me,
(remember I'm not allowed to play with knives).
It's not very straight, but quarters still go in it
Now after only 2 weeks of leagues already we have over $15 in that jar,
and I am NOT the only one contributing  LOL
Now you might ask what we do with the money at the end of the season?
We use it for the end of season tournament.  Then we kinda play (drink)  for free...

Paper Secrets 20 plus Digital and Giveaway

Good morning
here's my layout I did for the challenge over at PaperSecrets.  Each week we are given an assignment for a layout. I really don't care if I win the contest, it's just helping me to do more layouts that I should have done a long time ago (or some new ones in this case). If you participate and follow the guidelines you advance to the next week. We started with 27 and 10 moved on again last week, these ladies are serious about their scrapping.  I will keep updating you as I go along. Who knows, I might not be able to participate one week and then I am out, but until then, I am scrapping my butt off, (they used a different word, but my blog is family friendly...hehehe
Here is the sketch:
but of course I rotated it:
And this is what I came up with:
Do you ever make a layout and just know this
is one of the best ones you've made?
Well I have to say this is my favorite by far so far
The roses are from Penny Duncan's creations.
I've been seeing all these fabric flowers and thought
I'd give it a try.  I made it really shabby chic and
just love the outcome.  I even backed it with some lacy tulle.
Since I hate my own handwriting but wanted to journal
I added a journal tag and hid it behind the ribbon border
I created another tag from chipboard and used rubons
as my title...and added another rose
I had to use 5 out of the 10 things on the list
Red highlighted ones are what I used:
raw chipboard (leave raw , paint, ink, etc....your choice)
punch or diecuts
flowers/leavesblingfabric/felt
rubons

mist
hand or machine stitching
3+ buttons
ribbon/lace

Now, I also went digital and tried to "recreate" this layout in a way
So it's far from identical, but I am very pleased with it.
I still haven't touched on ALL the items you can
choose from, but what I've seen, I've been amazed
I think I'm going to like digital...I even have some
cool plans for what I am creating.
SO, now the fun part...
Do you want to try Digital Scrapbooking?  If so, I am going to give away 1 subscription to this software.
YEAH,!!! RIGHT?
so there are a few rules though
1.  You need to go to MyMemories and check out their fun layouts and

DOING this will get you 1 entry.  Now for extra chances you can:
2.  Go to their Blog and become a follower

Framed Paper

Good morning

Today I want to show you a quick and easy way to make a frame out of cardstock using a file from  LisaJane.  Since I've become a member of the DT I am loving all the crafty projects I've come up with for her.

The frame measures 6 x 6
I got this using some pretty heavy
cardstock with my E-Craft

Isn't the detail marvelous?
I added scoretape to 3 sides of the frame
and adhered it the the same colored
cardstock as my backing
Then I cut a piece of the same cardstock
at 5 x 5.  This will be your frame stand.
I scored it point to point and added
scoretape to half of the stand
then adhered it to the backside of the frame.
I colored the flowers and leaves with
some colored pencils to give it just
the right amount of coloring.
Since I wanted to use this black and white
photo of my kids when they were little
I didn't want the coloring to be overpowering

If you are interested in purchasing this file
you can head over to her shop and grab it up.

Creative Paperclay

Good morning friends

Today I want to share a project that was super easy and fun involving some more alphabet cookie cutters.  As most of you know, I am also a designer over at Creative Paperclay.  I love working with it for embellishments for my scrapbooking and cardmaking but this time I used the paper clay to make a sign for Miss Bella's door.  I am taking over decorating for her room and everything is coming together black and pink...

Here are my step by step instructions, kinda picture heavy.
I laid out some paper clay to the size I wanted the
sign to be...it measures 2.5 x 9 and then used my
fiskars embossing plates to add some flowers
Then I used my alphabet cookie cutters
to cut out her name
now the centers of the B and A don't depress
enough, so I thought I'd cut heart out in the middle
I used the hole of a mechanical pencil to cut
out the holes for the ribbon to hang
Here are all the pieces dried and ready to paint.
As you can see the holes in the A and B didn't
work, so I changed my mind...
I painted the sign first pink, then black and then
washed a pink over it again.  I also painted all the
letters pink and....
highlighted the edges with black
I glued all the letters to the sign, hot glued some lacy
ribbon around the back...glitzed up the letters with
rhinestones and added some bows with the lace.
I also made one stick pin for accent to the top
and added some pink and black ribbon as the hanger
I really love the way it turned out.

So, today I am giving away (1) 8 oz brick of Creative PaperClay.  I used half of a brick to make this sign and all the embellishments, so depending on what you want to make, it can last a while.  Be sure if you do not use it all at once to put it in an airtight container or it will harden on you as it dries by air.  I store mine in ziplock baggies after I've sucked all the air out of it.

So, now to qualify to win this please let me know what you would make with it...have I given you any ideas or do you know of something you'd like to try?
Also, please go to Creative Paperclay FB page and "like" them for a second chance and tell them I sent you and then come back here and tell me that you did that
For a third chance go to the Creative PaperClay blog and become a follower and come back here and tell me you did that

This giveaway ends on October 2nd and I will announce the winner
October 3rd, so please make sure to come back here to see if you have won.

Halloween Card with a file giveaway

Good morning guys...

I wanted to show you a quick card I made using one of Adamsacres files.  As you might remember, I am a designer over there.  She's been moving into her new house and hadn't done much, but she's back and I'm ready to show you a simple Halloween card.
Isn't this cute?  I added some stick pins to the bow.
I heat embossed his little face and distressed his belly
a bit and pop dotted two layers shadowed.
I also added some rafia around the stem of the pumpkin.
and of course it's a wobble
see the homemade wobble?  If you have
never seen my wobbles, go here,
I have a tutorial and a video on how to make them.
Now, head on over to Adams Acres and
enter to win this adorable file or you can go
here to purchase it, it's only $1

Everything I used for making this card was out of my scrap bin.  I'm so trying to use up all my scraps and therefore I am also entering this card over at LTC for her "Let's scrap it" challenge

Cards for Izzy

As some of you know, one of our DT Members, Evanna, at Lasting Memories daughter, Izzy, was diagnosed with Leukemia and Karen thought it would be a great idea to make cards for her.  So if you feel compelled to brighten up a little girl's day with a card, please mail them to:

Cards For Izzy
c/o Karen Wilson
PO BOX 438
Willow Beach, ONT
L0E 1S0
Canada

Cards do NOT have to be "Get Well", in fact, they can be absolutely ANYTHING that will put a smile on a little girl's face. If you have little ones and they want to make something, PLS add that in! The more cards, the better. Karen is asking for all cards to be mailed out by October 21 and she will wait a couple weeks to be sure she get everyone's and then she will pkg everything up and send out to Evanna. Thank you all so very much - now let's make this little girl, and her family, smile.

Lasting Memories #57 Flowers and Frames

Happy Sunday all,

Today over at Lasting Memories it's all about Frames and Flowers...2 of my most favorite things.  I chose a picture of my mom that is one of my favorite.  My mom LOVES her flowers and her garden.  Most of the time you can find her just sitting outside enjoying her beautiful yard.  Now be prepared
this is a VERY busy and loud layout
All the cuts are using the Storybook cricut cartridge.
I forget how much I love using some of my carts.
I also took MOST of the color out of the photo
and highlighted just the pink and blue flowers.
I framed my mom's picture with some sheer ribbon
around the backside of the photo and twisted
it at the corners...I saw this technique in a
magazine a while ago and kinda like it
I mimicked the iron work trellis in her yard
and added one behind the vines and flowers.
I only chalked the inside of the flowers
and added a bit to the vines and leaves.

I do really like the look of this page even though it's very busy.
Now, remember to join us at Lasting Memories and create a layout using flowers and frames.
Summer is almost gone, but you can preserve it with a beautiful flower layout.

Also, don't forget about the MyMemories contest I am holding here.  Be sure to check out all the details and leave your comments over there.  Only the comments posted there will qualify you to win a Digital Software program from MyMemories.  Next week I will be showing you a digital layout I made for my Lasting Memories challenge.  If you have ever wanted to play around with digital this is a great way to learn.  Now, if you DO not want to try to win the software and want it NOW I am giving you the ability to save $20 if you wanna purchase it NOW here  and enter this coupon code: STMMMS28873

Fall Plate Redo

Good Morning crafters

Today I want to show you how to re-purpose something.  I just love to recycle and reuse things I would normally throw away.  Now, I would not have thrown these away and if I didn't have them on hand, I would have gone to my local thrift store and purchased them...LOL  So we recently sold the Winnebago :(  I'm very sad because she was a long time friend.  We pretty much drove her to death, but she gave us lots of memories so that's a good thing.  Now I don't know if we will be getting another camper or if we are truly gonna start roughing it again (in tents), but either way, we have the entire winter to think about it.  I just know come spring time next year I'm gonna get sad again...
So with that said, we had to clean her out before selling her and I had another "household" in that camper.  Everything from linens to dishes is now trying to find a home inside my home or donated to the local thrift store?  I did send some stuff with the kids that they didn't have, but the majority is trying to find a place in my garage because I just can't seem to part with it.  While I was going through the stuff I came across these plastic like plates that we ate from.  Again, the memories of sitting around the campfire eating dinner...oh I miss camping already.  So as I was packing them into a box I got an idea...I wonder if I can paint them?  I'm sure I can....so I tried it
Here is the plate before and I already had the paint on hand
it did take two coats for the front
and I only did one for the back...because
do you really care what the back looks like?
The I created a word jumble of sort with my SCAL 3
and cut it on vinyl using my E-Craft.
After weeding it, I used plain contact paper that I got at
my local Dollar Tree as transfer tape.  This roll has gone a LONG way...
I burnished it really good
and placed it on my plate and burnished it really good again
Added a plate hanger that I also got at the Dollar Tree and
voila...a beautiful wall decor.  I finally made something for myself.
I absolutely love this...this might make a great
Housewarming gift for someone...

I'm linked this up at Someday Crafts and Allthingsfee
Some great ideas over there

I've gone digital

Good afternoon all,

+++If you are looking for my "festive fridays" card or my LTC cards, please scroll down+++

Okay, so here's the scoop...you all know how much I love to scrapbook...that's how it all started.  I've been scrapbooking for MANY years and then that evolved into card making and then that evolved into buying a cricut, then I upgraded to the expression, then I found my passion for the ecraft, etc.  Now recently I have been seeing ALOT of digital layouts and just love the idea of them, BUT with being unemployed I've NOT had the means to go out and purchase a program.  SO I did the next best thing...I entered to win a program.  I didn't really care which program because I just wanted to play and see if I even liked it.  I did download a couple of freebie trials, BUT you are very limited in what you can make, so I was a bit dissatisfied with them
:(  Well, I did NOT win at any of the places I tried...

BUT a couple of days ago I was approached by MYMemories and was offered to try their digital software for scrapbooking.  Well yeah of course I am willing to try it...so I downloaded it and guess what?
Seriously, NO LIE, 5 minutes.  I think the hardest part
was finding which pictures to plunk in.
Now this was a template and I did delete a few
things from it, but that's cuz it was a bit too
girlie since I had pictures of Austyn in the layout also,
but that's what I LOVE about this...I can mix and match,
add, delete, oh my
SO, now the fun part...
Do you want to try Digital Scrapbooking?  If so, I am going to give away 1 subscription to this software.
YEAH,!!! RIGHT?
so there are a few rules though
1.  You need to go to MyMemories and check out their fun layouts and
digital paper packs and then come back here and COMMENT which one you liked the best.
DOING this will get you 1 entry.  Now for extra chances you can:
2.  Go to their Blog and become a follower
3.  Like them on Facebook
4.  Follow on Twitter
Now you do NOT have to do all of these things, but the more you do and comment telling me you've done each thing separately, the better the chances are for you to win it. 4 chances per person...
BUT if you post my giveaway on your blog, fb, twitter or any place you can think of and you come back here and comment telling me what you did, I will give you that MANY more entries, so it is completely up to you on how many chances you want

I will be announcing the winner OCTOBER 2nd during my Lasting Memories challenge because I have the cutest layout ready for that day using...of course, the MyMemories Suite.

Now, I've not had a chance to play with this a whole lot, but I'VE already created some more FUN projects, not just layouts and will be sharing them with you very soon, so please keep coming back.

LTC "Scrap It"

Good morning

***If you are looking for my Festive Friday's card, please scroll down***

welcome to another day of challenges over at Love to Crop.  I'm so excited to be back for another LTC challenge guest designer.   Amy is such an inspiration and when she asked if I would again help out with the challenge I was more than pleased to assist.  This actually came at a perfect time because I was going to "challenge" myself sorta.  I showed a layout yesterday for Paper Secrets and I have been trying to use up any scrap paper and such when I've been working on projects recently.  I have a ton of paper, but I also have a ton more of scraps and creating more scraps is not really what I want.  Well, this particular layout was not happening without "new" papers...so, needless to say, more scraps...When Amy and I got to talking about this challenge and she told me her plan, I decided to challenge myself also.  So this is the scoop...when I do a layout, I obviously have all the "scraps" laying on my table, so when I've completed the layout...make some cards.  I know this is probably not a new concept to a lot of you, but a light bulb went off and this is what I am challenging myself to do from now on.  I make at least two layouts a week for one DT I am on, Lasting Memories, and then the PaperSecrets challenge.  So you know I probably have more scraps than I know what to do with and this way I might get some extra cards made right away.  So here is the layout I had made if you missed it yesterday...
All the papers here were either a 8 x 11 or 12 x 12
papers to begin with.  As you can see, I didn't use a lot
of the paper, but scraps were created anyway.
Then I created this card
and these notecards...they are 3 x 3 quickies
still yet some more of the same paper
plus some extras from my scrap bin
and a left over flower I created for a fall project.

I just love how they turned out and you never
know when you will need a quick "thank you".
Plus it saves my scrap bin from growing even more.
So, I hope I've inspired you to create some cards after
making a layout to avoid a over flowing scrap bin.
Now the next time you create a beautiful layout,
use your scraps right away and make some quickie cards
and head on over to Love to Crop and link up your "Scrap It" project.
